Once upon a time,I had beautiful curly healthy and enviable hair.People used to praise them and I used to be happy because everything was a result of a very basic hair care, just a shampoo and conditioner. But then the story took a frightening turn and within a year and half I was left with just 1/5th of my original hair. And I started visiting dermatologists one after another. After few rounds I got the bottle which I would say helped. It was Minoxidil Topical solution USP 2% from Dr. Reddy’s known as Mintop.
After so many years I got to know about a friend who was battling hair fall.Going by my earlier experience I suggested the same to him too. So after knowing his experience, Today I am going to give my views about Mintop Forte which is the same solution in 5% which is for males.
About the Manufacturer:
Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories is an Indian multinational pharmaceutical company based in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. The company was founded by Anji Reddy, who previously worked as a mentor with Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited, Hyderabad, India. Dr. Reddy’s manufactures and markets a wide range of pharmaceuticals in India and overseas. The company has over 190 medications, 60 active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for drug manufacture, diagnostic kits, critical care, and biotechnology products.
It is for the treatment of alopecia androgenetica (male pattern baldness) . Mintop Forte containing the active ingredient Minoxidil is a vasodilator type of medication. The 5% solution is used to stimulate hair regrowth and to slow hair loss in men with male pattern or hereditary alopecia and common male baldness. It is most effective for male patients whose hair loss is recent and who are not observing receding hairlines.
The product comes in a light green colored carton box which clearly mentions the name, formulation, quantity, directions to use and other details worth knowing.
Once you open the pack, you find a small plastic bottle and a dropper.
The box also contains a leaflet which has every little detail mentioned on it.
The solution comes in a thin dark brown colored bottle which has a white tightening cap.
The Dropper in the box has a specific purpose (which I’ve mentioned under directions to use).
The product itself is a clear, colourless to slightly yellow liquid with a pleasant smell.
Each mL contains
Minoxidil IP 50mg
Alcohol (95%) IP equivalent to Absolute Alcohol 40% v/v
Directions to use:
Although the bottle looks like any other medicated bottle ,the way to use it is quite different but easy.
So to apply, Open the cap. To get the right quantity for application, squeeze bottle until the solution rises close to the rim. Then release it. 1 ml of the solution will remain in the neck while the rest will go back. Pour contents directly onto the centre of the affected scalp area and spread evenly with your fingertips. For a better and easy application, Use dropper provided in the box to suck the solution from the bottle.
Dosage and administration:
Minoxidil topical solution 5% is for external use only. 1 ML of minoxidil topical solution 5% should be applied twice daily, once in the morning and once at night onto the clean dry scalp in the hair loss area. The total dosage should not exceed 2 ML.
For Minoxidil topical solution 5% to work best, it should be allowed to remain on the scalp for 4 hours before washing. The nighttime application should occur 2 to 4 hours before going to bed to allow drying. It should not be used more than 2 times a day. Also wash your hands immediately after applying it with your fingertips. If a dose of this solution is missed the patient should continue with the next dose.

My final take on it would be to give it a go if you have done almost everything for your hair fall. Minoxidil from Dr. Reddy’s come with three variants 2% ,5%, 10%.
2% and 10% are for females while 5% as I stated earlier is for males.Depending upon your hair fall severity, gender and pattern, your dermatologist is going to recommend the dosage and length of this treatment. So always ask your doctor before you start applying it. After applying the medication regularly, it may take up to 4 months to see the benefits of the treatment. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor as stopping the treatment may cause the loss of all newly regrown hair.To see the results, take a before and after picture for comparison. If you find any allergies related to the product, consult your dermatologist immediately.
I hope it will give you a new hope towards your hair.
So see you soon,
